The International Relations Society invites you to join us on our trip to Rome from the 1st to the 6th of June 2015 !
Joined by Dr. Michaela Lomb, alumna of the Pontifical Gregorian University & an expert on canon law, we will explore the political influences of one of the most powerful, non-governmental institutions of the world, that cannot be overstated on the political scale. The Holy See has at its disposal the oldest diplomatic service, its members continuing to being represented in almost every corner of the world. Negotiations on the scale as the recent ones between John Kerry and Pietro Parolin, the highest ranking representative on foreign policy of the Holy See, on Guantanamo Bay and the escalation in the Middle East additionally illustrate the pre-eminent importance of the Holy See for world politics.
Led by an expert in the field, we will visit the decisive congregations and organisations of the Holy See, we will get into conversations with representatives on foreign policy and last but at no terms least, we will participate in an general audience of the Pope. The plans in place include visits to the french and german embassies to the Vatican, as well as to the Italien state, complemented by attending the Corpus Christi procession, taking place on the 4th of June, visits to the Papal Swiss Guards, the Tribunal Apostolicum Rotae Romanae as the highest court of the Catholic Church and to the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, which organises and executes the humanitarian relief programs and charitable activities of the Holy See. Moreover, we will be allowed to visit a Holy Mass and to participate in a guided tour on classical philology through early Christian and Romane churches. Finally, we will meet representatives of Opus Dei, as well as representatives of the Council for International Intercultural Relations.
Rom as experiencing an era of evolution to a degree that has not been the case since the monomaniacal rage of the Duce, thanks to unceasing investments in the infrastructure and a spirit of creation instead of preservation. Correspondingly and as alternative offers, we offer trips to the sights and hidden jewels of Rome, in order to complement the intellectual stimulus with cultural, architectural and culinary experiences.
We are looking forward to a fantastic week, opening up new worlds of insights !
